Time Tunnel Museum

Established in January 2007, the museum is filled with over 4,000 collectibles and memorabilia showcased in eight galleries covering an area of approximately 1,300 square meters.


The Time Tunnel Museum, Malaysia's first memorabilia museum,  is a fascinating place to step back in time and explore Malaysia's rich history and culture, particularly focused on the Cameron Highlands. Located in Brinchang, it's a must-see attraction for visitors of all ages.


Here are some of the interesting exhibits you'll find at the Time Tunnel Museum:


Orang Asli: Learn about the indigenous people of the Cameron Highlands through photographs and information.


Cameron Highlands Chronology: Explore a historical timeline that charts the origins of the highlands from their discovery in 1885 by William Cameron to their development as a hill resort in the 1920s and 30s.


Emergency Period: Documents and posters from the Malayan Emergency, a communist insurgency that lasted from 1948 to 1960, are displayed here.


Black and White Photos: Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane with black and white photos showcasing how life used to be in the Cameron Highlands, particularly in the 1950s and 60s.


Jim Thompson Corner: A dedicated section pays tribute to the mysterious disappearance of Jim Thompson, the American founder of the Thai silk business that bears his name. He vanished without a trace during a hike in the Cameron Highlands in 1967.


Advertising Materials: Immerse yourself in a world of vintage Malaysian advertising through a vast collection of old posters, advertisements, and logos from popular brands.


Mock Shops: The museum features recreated shops from a bygone era, including a traditional kopitiam (coffee shop) with nostalgic music playing in the background, and a mobile noodle stall complete with utensils and ingredients.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS FUN FACTS
  • Cameron Highlands is the largest tea producing region in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The BOH Tea Plantation, established in 1929, is the first highland tea plantation in Malaysia. Visitors can tour the factory and even enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea!

  • The Cameron Highlands boast a unique cloud forest called the Mossy Forest. This 200,000-year-old forest is covered in thick layers of moss, lichen, and ferns, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.

  • The world's largest single bloom flower, the Rafflesia Arnoldi, can be found in the Cameron Highlands. This incredible flower can grow up to 1 meter in diameter and weigh up to 10 kilograms! However, it only blooms for 3 to 5 days, making it a rare sight.
