Mount Brinchang, situated in Pahang, Malaysia, is the second-highest peak in Cameron Highlands at 2,032 metres. From Century Pines Resort, head northeast onto Jalan Besar (Main Road) towards Brinchang town. Continue for approximately 3 km, then turn left onto Jalan Sungai Palas. Follow signs for Mount Brinchang via a steep, narrow road. The drive takes roughly 15–20 minutes. Note that the final stretch to the summit may require a 4WD vehicle due to rugged terrain.
Renowned for its mystical mossy forest and panoramic views, Mount Brinchang offers a serene escape into nature. The summit features an iconic telecommunications tower and a mossy forest boardwalk trail, where ancient trees draped in lichens and ferns thrive in cool, misty conditions. Temperatures often dip below 10°C, making it one of Malaysia’s chilliest spots. The montane ecosystem supports unique flora, including orchids and pitcher plants, while birdwatchers may spot endemic species like the mountain peacock-pheasant.
Access to Mount Brinchang’s mossy forest boardwalk is free, though parking fees (RM5–RM10 per vehicle) apply near the trailhead. The viewing tower operates daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with no entry fee. Guided nature walks are occasionally available for RM30–RM50 per person.
Named after Colonel J.L. Brinchang, a British officer during the colonial era, the mountain gained prominence in the 1950s when a road was constructed to its summit for telecommunications purposes during the Malayan Emergency. This route, now a popular hiking trail, underscores the region’s strategic historical significance.
Mossy Forest Boardwalk: Wander through an ethereal landscape of gnarled trees and spongy peat soil on a 300-metre elevated walkway.

Biodiversity: Discover rare plant species and vibrant birdlife in this protected montane habitat.
Adventure Trails: Experienced hikers can trek to Gunung Irau (2,110 metres), Peninsular Malaysia’s highest peak accessible via trail.
