Unveiling a mystical world, Mossy Forest in Cameron Highlands is a photographer's dream. Lush green moss carpets the trees, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Explore this natural wonder on a boardwalk trail, spotting unique flora and soaking in breathtaking mountain views. Don't miss this enchanting Cameron Highlands highlight!

The Mossy Forest is situated near Gunung Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. From Century Pines Resort, head northwest onto Jalan Besar (Route 59) towards Kea Farm. Continue for approximately 7 km, passing the Boh Tea Plantation, until you reach a junction signed for Gunung Brinchang. Follow the steep, narrow road uphill for 4 km (4WD recommended) to the car park. From there, a 200-metre trail leads to the forest entrance.

This ancient montane cloud forest, perched at 2,032 metres above sea level, is renowned for its ethereal landscape shrouded in mist. Draped in thick moss, orchids, and ferns, the forest thrives in cool, humid conditions. A 300-metre elevated boardwalk allows visitors to explore without disturbing the fragile ecosystem. Unique flora, including carnivorous pitcher plants and rare orchids, flourish here, alongside endemic wildlife such as the Malayan porcupine and migratory birds.

As of 2023, entry costs RM30 (£5.50) for adults and RM15 (£2.75) for children (6–12 years). Guided tours (optional) range from RM50–RM150 (£9–£27), depending on group size. The forest is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, weather permitting. Monsoon seasons (November–February) may prompt temporary closures.

Formed over 10,000 years ago, the Mossy Forest is a relic of Malaysia’s prehistoric cloud forests. It gained protected status in the 2000s as part of Cameron Highlands’ conservation efforts. The boardwalk, constructed in 2015, balances tourism with ecological preservation, safeguarding its role as a critical carbon sink and biodiversity hotspot.
