Bharat Tea Plantations is nestled in the heart of Cameron Highlands near Tanah Rata, Pahang, Malaysia. Conveniently located just a short distance from Century Pines Resort (Lot 42, Jalan Masjid, Tanah Rata), it lies along the main road – approximately 2 km before reaching the town centre or 6 km after Ringlet. From the resort, follow the well-signposted route, and you’ll soon be greeted by expansive tea fields and the gentle hum of tea harvesters at work.
Steeped in history, Bharat Tea Plantations was established in 1933 by the renowned Bharat Group, making it a significant part of the region’s tea heritage. Although formal guided tours are not offered, the plantation’s tea houses provide ample opportunity to learn about the journey from leaf to cup. Visitors can watch local workers harvesting and processing tea leaves and gain insights into traditional methods that blend with modern techniques.
The plantation itself is a visual feast – rolling, lush green slopes carpeted with meticulously cultivated tea bushes that stretch towards the horizon. Two tea houses operate on the estate: Cameron Valley Tea House 1 features a quaint park with a cascading waterfall, offering a relaxed ambience ideal for quiet reflection, while Cameron Valley Tea House 2 is larger, with extensive parking and sweeping panoramic views of the highlands. Here, you can savour a variety of locally produced teas, paired with freshly baked scones, pastries, and other local delicacies.
Bharat Tea Plantations is generally open daily from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, and there is no entrance fee – you only pay for the food and drinks you consume.
